Wonderfully great, India is a country where there are surprises galore. With the wonderous soul that many travelers today have, it is no wonder that some of the hidden gems are slowly opening their doors to India. Here are 5 Offbeat Destinations in India that should be on your 2017 Travel Bucket List because
why not!

Dholavira, Gujarat: If you were to witness a drive to remember, a small stretch of road from Rapar to Dholavira is with White Rann on both sides with just a road of Black Asphalt separating the two sides. Unlike the Rann of Kutch at Dhordo, this road is drivable. One can also stop and wander in the open vastness of Rann on both sides. Grab some Fafdas with Jalebis at Rapar and head towards Dholavira – the Harappan civilization site. Harappan Civilization is one of the world’s first great civilizations.

Discovered in 1967-68, the Harappan city of Dholavira is one among the biggest Harappan sites in the Indo Pak Continent. The excavation bought into light the ancient city of exquisite planning, architecture and amazing water management system. We did a road trip from Bhuj to Dholavira and stayed at Bhuj.

Rajgir, Bihar: Cross the mountain in a single seated cable car chair and reach the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, one of the 80 Peace Pagoras in the world. Rajgir was the capital of Magadh and one of the favorite places in Buddhism and Jainism.  Enjoy sweet delicacy known as Khaja which we get in a place called Silao.

Where to stay: Rajgir

Neemrana, Rajasthan: About 3 hours from Delhi is the ancient historical town of Neemrana in Rajasthan. Neemrana Fort is located on a high hillock and commands great views of the surrounding beauty. Flying fox zip line is a unique and exhilarating zipline between battlements, hill forts and ridge tops at Neemrana. Since this place comes in between Jaipur and Delhi, one can stay at either of these places and do a road trip. A must do.

Where To Stay: Jaipur | Delhi

Auli, Uttarakhand:   Nested in the arms of Himalayas in Uttarakhand, about 11 hours arduous bus journey alongside river Ganges from Haridwar is the heaven for Ski Lovers. Auli is the new popular tourist destination that hosts one of the highest and finest slopes of India. It is also an ideal place for a romantic gateway. There are Ski instructors and courses in Auli where you can learn how to Ski. Skiing is a sport that needs both patience and practice but with fluffiness of snow that Auli surrounds itself with, nonetheless so much fun. If not Skiing, one can also indulge in a light snowboarding on the snow.

Darjeeling, West Bengal: Darjeeling still remains one of my favorite places in India. Situated on the foothills of mighty Kanchenjunga, it is a food lovers paradise. Walk down the Mall road and have Chicken Sausage with Hot Chocolate at Keventers or freshly baked Apple Pie at Glenary’s with the backdrop of snow clad Kanchenjunga. Tiger Hill is one of the major attractions in Darjeeling where the glowing sunrays over the Mt Kunchenjunga charms you with its beauty. Batasia loop at ghum is where toy train makes a turn of 360 degrees.
